I am sure this has been addressed in a number of other posts, but I need advise on bullpen V2.
My winning % is steadily declining, and I can't settle on the right mix.
At 1st I used all the settings, but now I am trying the less is more approach.
Currently I set most of my starters, unless they are scrubs to F8. I designate a closer, usually 1 set-up, and one middle man. I usually keep the rest of the v2 settings blank. On pitchers other than set up and closer I put setting on card to max 1-2 innings and quick hook. I also check avoid RHB or LHB on heavily one sided cards.
I feel like I am not at all using this new system to its full, or even moderately full potential. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything too terribly wrong. Still, post a link to your team so that we can give more specific advice.

I am playing 10 teams right now. I just need general strategy advise. In the old system I followed the less (restrictions) is more school of thought when dealing with HAL. I have slowly settled into that with v2. I am just hoping to get a consensus of what has worked for others.

I'd love to see someone post a link to a successful team (maybe even a league champ) along with posting the exact bullpen V2 set up, role-by-role with the names that were assigned. Seeing a successful example would help me understand if I'm using it correctly. I've had a couple teams that started out well take a dive and I wasn't using many options (the less is more approach), but now I've begun to think being as specific as possible to fully use the options may be the best approach. It never struck me to enter the same role more than once as well (closer or set up, etc) but if I'm reading some other posts correctly, it sounds like some folks put more than one player in a role. I'm trying to id if this means HAL follows the order (top-down) of the roles.

Thanks for the example AeroDave. So you have a few roles entered twice - what would be the criteria when HAL would use the second choice? And does the order matter on anything other than roles that are entered more than once? I would think that, based on the game situation, HAL would id a role to go select, and then he would pick the person assigned to that role. When the role is entered multiple times, he must have some criteria to go by for picking the second choice - unless it is purely based on whether the first choice has already been used, and maybe its as simple as that.

It says in the rules that the order does matter, and that for multiple roles the second choice will come in if the other is unavailable (already pitched in the game or too fatigued from recent appearances).

Thanks again - I had not read those rules before so that might explain why I was guessing on how to use it. Good to have that link to the rules.

Thanks for the example AeroDave. It gives me a few ideas I had not considered. I like the potential of V2. I haven't checked out the forums in quite a while, and I kind of lost interest in Strat the past 6 months. However, the Strat bug is starting to bite me again. My problem might have been as much a lack of interest as much as not using V2 right. Thanks for the input.

Dennis, you say you "lost interest in Strat the past 6 months" and now you are [only] "playing 10 teams right now."
How many teams did you have when you were interested? :~)
