Pitch count?

Pitch count?

Postby The Jerk Store » Tue Dec 29, 2009 3:36 pm

Just curious, how is a pitchers pitch count in a game tracked? I noticed a case where a pitcher (Mike Trombley) had a pitch count of 5. He pitched 1/3 of an inning, getting a ground out and walking two (one intentional) so his pitch count would have had to be at least 9. Like I said, just curious.

I don't think the game counts intentional walks as pitches.
If you think about it, in real life, pitchers don't put full effort into intentional walks. Strat probably accounts for that.
