I am in a league that will start Monday. Waivers done. Here is the list of FA on the first page, barely edited.

A 13th team could pick up 1s everywhere except ss.

Why the hate for 1s?

It's not the 1 that people have the beef with. I don't see Torii Hunter, Mauer, McLouth, Victorino, Russel Martin, Sizemore, Markakis (etc, etc) on the list you posted.

Defense is only a small part of a players contribution. Almost all of the guys on the list have flaws in their cards compared to their comps/peers. If fact, last league I played in had almost the exact same list of guys. I tried 12 different ways to rationalize my way into using Adrian Gonzalez -- but wound up sticking with Huff. Mostly, they're just priced wrong.

Yup I agree, I think TSN has put to high a price on 1 rated defenders. If you can find a 2 that hits as well and costs less, especailly on the corners( 1b, 3b, lf rf) whay pay the premium. It's all about the salary.

I love 1's. Check out my all one rated fielding team(except catcher) in the 1999 game.

Only guy I'd take would be Ludwick...love Youk but can get close to comparable production at 1b at a much lower price if you go for the value players.

Or maybe you undervalue defense! ;)

Here is what a left-over team would look like:

Fenway Park

c- Martin
2b- Hudson
ss- Young
1b- Youkilis
dh- C. Lee
cf- Cameron
lf- Crawford
3b- Rolen
rf- Gutierrez

main infielder backup 1.00
another infielder backup 0.60
of back-up/pinch-runner 0.60
of back-up/pinch-hitter vs rhp 0.60
dh-pinch-hitter 0.60

Marcum
Hudson
Zambrano
Bush
Matsuzaka

main rp Romo
main closer Wheeler
back-up rp/closer 1.00
lh specialist 0.70
rh specialist 0.70
inning-eater 0.50

Sounds like a very competitive team to me.

What's your opinion, Joe?

Hmmm. 8 1's. 30M in pitching. The ERA will approach 3, depending on the division parks. Will the offense score enough runs? You decide.

[code:1:7864897f35]Hits vs. L vs. R Ob vs. L vs. R TB vs. L vs. R

22 25 36 37 38 40 [/code:1:7864897f35]

When I play a pitchers park I have an average of 30+ hits and 40+ OB. TB? Whatever. Lotsa XBH's. Hitters park? 25 hits. 35 OB. 45-55 BPHR's vs. RHP. This team has 26. Betwixt and between.
