HAL taketh away and HAL giveth back

"Bang, bang, Maxwell's silver hammer came down upon his head..."

My team, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, won its league title last night, but I'd begun to doubt that I could justify the song lyric this year.

We'd had the best record in the league at game 129, but then HAL decided that a little rotten luck would be fun, so we went 5-15 after that.

But just as HAL taketh away, so too does HAL giveth back. After the season-ending slump, we won the semis as the wild card team, 3-0, and then took the finals 4-1.

Moral of the story: Don't give up until the final out...

Hal, Oh Hal

I'm finding that he MORE I trust HAL the better I do.

HAL won't "fix" a broken team that is being held together by spit and bailing wire, but if you have a relatively solid team, even with platoons and variable durable starters, HAL can actually pull your fat out of the fire quite well.

The one thing that does drive me nuts is the basic StratOStructure that a pitcher can yield NOTHING on his 4-5-6 columns on his card card; but get shelled when it lands on the batter's 1-2-3 columns. It can humble a $12 Mil pitcher; or deify a 50c pitcher. I have to keep saying that it is an amalgam and not to look too deeply behind the curtain.

I think it was J-Pav, among others who said we should "Worship HAL" for best results.

Hey, gotta love 'em!

Along with Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I also have the Summertime Blues and the Great Balls of Fire.
