Game Engine Improvement Needed - Bernie

We all know, and most accept the fact, that injuries are a part of the game. We know that when we take an injury risk player that it can bite us in the butt. The frustrating part of a 15 game injury sometimes is that even though you may do all you can to minimize the risk, it is often out of your control.

Here is a recent scenario... You have a high priced injury player, you have him set for a defensive replacement. Yet, in a 23-7 blowout win, he is still batting in the 8th inning and goes down for 15 games! Being a board game veteran, I NEVER allowed a player to bat in this situation under any circumstance, NEVER!!

[b:4b471a8a82]Bernie here is my question... Can the game engine be improved to take this into account? If RP can be set to "avoid using during a blowout", why can't we have a similar setting for position players?[/b:4b471a8a82]

The game has been improved greatly to enhance the ability of the manager to control things, especially pitching... it is time for some more ability to manage this as well.

thanks for the time Bernie.

Having been burned similarly, I'd second this emotion.

Just found this is in the help section.

[quote:bb12cceb6a][edit] Remove for defensive sub with lead
This setting will always remove the player from the game at the start of an inning if 1) it is the 7th inning or later, 2) his team is winning, and 3) he is due to play the field in the inning. He will be replaced with a suitable player from the bench with defense in mind, shuffling fielders around the diamond as necessary to find an optimal alignment (an improvement that was included in SOM Online's Computer Subs v2 enhancement).
[/quote:bb12cceb6a]

1. It was after the 7th inning
2. Team was winning 23-7
3. He was playing 3B

Player was set to have a defensive replacement both in his strategy section and in the team strategy section. So, why was John Beckwith still batting in the 9th? These settings worked in previous games. Then after getting hurt, his proper defensive replacement is brought in to pinch run.

According to the above information, a 15 game injury to the leagues leading vote getter for MVP should NOT have happened!

Really not happy about this at all.

The documentation is not quite accurate because the game will not make a defensive substitution unless the game is close (in addition to the other criteria). I don't know what the cutoff is.

I agree that it would be nice to have an option to sub for a player in the event of a blowout. However, the game engine, in this case, is performing as intended.

TSN might be short staffed now that they dropped fantasy sports.
