two closers

two closers

Postby jagint » Sat Mar 13, 2010 6:11 pm

I've always tried to have a good closer on my team, however, this time I'm exploring having Sherrill (7L) and Soriano (9R) as closers vs L and R respectively.

I wonder if this is a good idea. Has anyone had success doing somenting like this? Any thoughts? I'm in pre season and still have a chance to change this. Thanks

I don't think it is. For less than their combined cost, you could get someone dominating. I do think the new bullpen settings let you do more with the closer role, but this seems like a big waste to me. The guy you set for LH closer will barely pitch. If you were in a RH park and wanted Soriano, but had someone like Choate in the LH closer role, it would be OK IMO. However, spending so much for two guys when only one can pitch at a time seems like a waste of resources.

Thanks. That has been the question on my mind. I have picked up Nathan and use the remaining money to improve in other areas...
