2006 question

I didn`t have a look yet on 2006, and I will be playing strat shortly where the draft will consist of picking up two MLB teams, and where we will build a strat team with the players drawn from these two teams.

What teams do you suggest me to take?

In terms of sheer stats and overall team (not taking into consideration that picking the Cubs would give you Derrek Lee, for example):

If you're game is pitching, I'm liking what I see with the White Sox, Cubs, Indians, Minnesota.

If hitting, then Boston will give you good OBP. St. Louis looks pretty steady. The Yankees maybe. Detroit, surprisingly, has some decent hitters. The Cubs aren't horrible. The Phillies also provide some OBP and decent hitting.

Of course, everything in Strat turns on value. So it's impossible to say what teams are good until the pricing is released.

What league are you playing in? Are there still openings?

Off the top of my head I'd say Marlins and Angels. Should provide:

Speed, Defense, Power, Bullpen, Starting Rotation, Flexible LUs.

Figgins, Castillo, B. Molina, Kotchman, Guerrero, Colon, Escobar, Shields, K-Rod, Cabrera, Delgado...might need a CF though

Miguel Cabrera that is, though Orlando might be suitable for SS too.
A.J. Burnett, Dontrelle Willis, Josh Beckett, Scott Shields...long list there.

It is a face-to-face tournament that we plan to have during a future week-end in Montreal. Not sure if there are still openings, but I could have an answer for you if you are interested.

MW - A's will give you 3 very good * SPs in Zito, Blanton & Haren. Also gives you a stud R2 closer in Street & a stud setup guy in Duchscherer, and a stud non* SP in Harden. This is probably the most complete staff in the set for 2005 with the highest # of usable pitchers.

For specialists, Kiko Calero should be a 6R high-end specialist RP, similar to a Dotel in this year's set, but unfortunately he's the only specialist RP on the roster....

With the Braves lucky,

You'll get a decent enough infield.

Plus a good CF with some pop.

The overall pitching won't be too bad either.

as a side note- Coming from a long time Mets fan, this was especially difficult to write... :x
