Question Re: Waivers and Minimum Roster Requirements

Is is possible to claim a player off waivers and in the process of doing so temporarily be below the minimum roster requirements at a particular position?

More specifically, if I have two catchers on my roster (the required minimum), claim an outfielder on waivers and drop one of the catchers to effectuate the claim, will the waiver claim be processed? Under this scenario, my roster would be below the minimum number of catchers. Of course, I would add a catcher to the roster before the season starts so my roster will meet all requirements when the seasons starts.

Any help would be appreciated.

No. If you have two catchers for example and your first waiver claim is for and OF and to drop a catcher. This will be skipped (and you will lose your waiver spot for that round) unless you have enough cap room to pick up that OF without dropping a player. The game will not allow you to pick up a player in waivers by making your roster go below minimums at any time.

Another thing to consider is if you go for a catcher where catcher is not his primary position (first listed position on his card) like Sandoval and miss him in the AD your roster will only have 1 catcher unless you had 3 catchers on your AD card. In this instance your first waiver claim must be for a catcher to make your roster legal unless you were able to trade for a catcher to meet your roster requirements prior to waivers running.
