Perfect Petco Lineup

Perfect Petco Lineup

Postby brooklaw » Fri Feb 10, 2006 12:08 pm

Petco team second try and I think I have assembled the perfect Petco line up. Natural OBP all down the line up. Some speed. Good gloves all around. I like my cheap starters too. I could use some suggestions on my bullpen and need some help finding cheap LHB platoons for CF and LF.

Your link takes me to your schedule page.

I would like a bit more protection for Bonds in my lineup. While Casey is nice, he's not a #4 hitter AND Davanon isn't a # 5 hitter.

The lineup is far from perfect. A) you need a pltoon person with Meuller (Merloni is he is available) and Davanon (E Young?). As Visick said, well you just don't have all the right pieces. I'd try it like this though:

Vs Righties

DaVanon
Ichiro
Bonds
Casey
Burke
Meuller
Taguchi
Kennedy
Rollins

Vs L

Burke
Ichiro
Bonds
Casey
Rollins
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing

Basically your lineup is dead vs lefties. Mueller can sometime hit lefties, but not consistantly. Same with Tagichi and Davanon cannot hit lefties at all.

Btw, go to statistics, then click on your team, then copy that URL and post here.

If I have learnt one thing it is that there is never a perfect line up. I've never had one and I guess no one else has either. There always seems to be something which is wrong.

And given that 2 of the 3 teams in your division can pretty much throw 3 LHP at you every time they play you, you may want to think about sacrificing Bonds perhaps for Pujols and a more legit LF than Davanon

Just noticed the number of lefties I'm facing. I feel sick. Any suggestions for cheap lh hitters or BP help.

well everyone still has money left so this is definetly before waivers, right?

anyways, this is the mian problem with so much money for 1 player. I'd much rather have Mora + Berkman + Damon than Bonds + Taguchi + Meuller.

If you could somehow get Mora, that would give you a great couterbalance with Bonds. Either way, you need a platon mate with Davanon (prefer you reaplce him) and Meuller.

Looper, Cordero or Baez should go as well (as you don't need 3 closers). Although your division is rather spaced out, you're in Petco, 1 MM, 1 Trop, 1 hitter park. Taverez, Cruz and Madson (with 1 closer) would be a much cheaper and more effective bullpen then the 5 you are touting now.

Personally, you need a lot of work, and I'd look to dump some bullpen guys pre waivers to get some $$. TRy to pick up graves as a cheap closer at home, works very well in Petco. Save $$ there to out back into your lineup/Sp. Mora, Berkman, Damon, L Castillo would be gys to target if you had the $$. PErhaps Crisp, Klesko or Newhan fit in more with your current budget.

you team looks better, but I noticed you don't need DaVanon + newhan. If anything drop them both and pick up dunn.....

you could then go

vs R: Damon, Ichiro, bonds, Casey, Dunn, Burke, Meuller, Kennedy, rollins
vs L: Rollins, Ichiro, Bonds, Casey, Dunn, Burke, Damon, Kennedy, Gomez

Ir if you prefer, bat Dunn 2nd (all walks or Hr's, but no dp's) and bat Ichiro 4th (moving casey down to 5th). Sure Ichiro has no power, but a lot of singles!

also Embree is a good cheap lefty in your pen, at least at home.

Some observations...
-Nice work. Good core.
-Batting Casey behind Bonds will be GBA heaven for your opponants. Put low GBA, positive clutch, high BA guys behind Bonds.
-You're way overbalanced with L hitters and therefore vulnerable to both hard LHP and the reverse RHP (Williams, Mussina, Pinero...). Get some RHB balance, protection vs LHP. Mora, Loretta, Kendall, Rivera, Clayton, Renteria, J Franco...?
-Dunn won't bust the Mendoza line in your park.

vs RHP
3. Bonds
4. Damon - great clutch rbi machine behind Bonds. See link below
5. Burke great clutch
6. Newhan great clutch

Here's a 2005 Petco team I did, similar to yours. 896 runs, .284 BA...
