Or anybody else can chime in.

1st game last night.

Buerhle gets pulled from the game with a 2-1 lead heading into the 9th.
[i:a9f9ddc000]No problem with this move as this is what I want[/i:a9f9ddc000].

Kerry Wood comes in to face Polanco. (Wood= Closer vs. righties, quick hook, avoid lefties, max. 1-2)
[i:a9f9ddc000]No problems here as well. HAL doing what I asked.[/i:a9f9ddc000]

Brian Fuentes comes in to face Sweeney. (Fuentes= Closer vs. lefties, quick hook, avoid righties, max. 1-2)
[i:a9f9ddc000]No problems here. HAL doing what I asked.[/i:a9f9ddc000]

Here's what I don't get...

HAL pulls Fuentes for Chris Perez. Perez now faces Chase Headley, a switch hitter who is a 2R. Perez's settings= IBB less

Why isn't Fuentes left in the game? Yes Fuentes is set to avoid righties...
BUT, Headley is a 2R, meaning he'll hit RH's better.

If HAL wanted a RH'er to come in, he could have chosen Mathis, who clearly is a better RP than Perez, since they are both C1's. (Mathis pitched only 1 1/3 innings the night before).

I dunno...

That answers the question of why he was pulled.

Why Perez instead of Mathis? Had Mathis played the prior two games? Except for all the ballpark HRs, Perez's card is really pretty good. Of course, with a one-run lead, the last thing you want is to give up a solo homer. At any rate, he came through and saved the game.

Be careful what you complain about regarding HAL or HAL will surely make moves you like even less.

I get that Al, but I'd prefer HAL "see" the 2R of Headley and keep Fuentes in.

Mathis pitched 1 1/3 innings the night before, and 0 innings the game before that. So with the same closer rating, if a switch was going to be made, why not Mathis?

Socal, I have studied this and believe I have figured out what happened. Your management settings have somehow slipped into that little-known realm of incompetence called "Trey Hillman Mode"

Good luck fixing it. I'm hoping the Royals fix it on their end very soon.

If I followed the Royals I might have gotten that one.

I didn't think they were still around after that guy Brett retired.

Well, uncheck "avoid righties," then. Hard to blame HAL for following your instructions.

I confess I had to look up who Trey Hillman is: .460 record in 2008; .401 in 2009; .333 so far this year. Not a track record that bodes well for a long major league managerial career.
