what's wrong with these managers who have more manager points than the league allows?

if a league is requesting managers with less than 1,000 pts to join, what is so difficult to understand?

currently there is a league listed asking for managers with 1,000 pts or less to join. yet when you check to see who is signed up, you find some guy named FRANK with over 25,000 pts.

we need some way to police these very, very, annoying clowns.

well...first off calling names fixes exactly nothing....it only makes you look as bad as him

How about you send him a message via PM and ask politley for him to step out of the league

If that does not work post here as you just did...less the equally annoying and juvenile name calling

then try going to customer service..ie Bernie and ask for assistence

I don't know the circumstances or the situation here, but sometimes a manager with a high overall ratings score will join a league he has never played before. Therefore, he could have a very high ATG rating, but would be a newb in a 2009 league, for instance.

I've found most people here are generally trying to do the right thing. I doubt a manager who has earned "25,000 points" would need to raid a newb league for one more ring. Give him the benefit of the doubt before you throw him under the bus. Like [b:e3c5b3ff76]the splinter[/b:e3c5b3ff76] said, you have some options you can consider before the league fills, including passwording the league to monitor those who join.

The Frank you refer to is one of the very nicest guys playing this Game ... but I must say I think you should welcome the more experienced GMs to join you ... see who they've found to be good value players ... and when you can make it beating those guys ... you can make it anywhere ... even New Rochelle!

Secondly ... why not password protect your League ... you can also set up a Free Chatroom in the ILC Sector ... Individual League Chat ... and share the passwords there ... or take a password request there and then share it via email, phone, or PM (the message facility that's part of this community).

There are a few 'maniacs' around who offer incessant, overly self-serving trades when they get into a League with less experienced players ... but you can learn to beat them too ...

In short ... if you're tired of being hammered ... look at the players these guys are hammering you with ... or their stadia ... or whatever ... and draft those players ... or some of them ... yourself next time! That's part of the fun starting a League ... a little intrigue ... what kinds of parks and team strategies will there be? Learn to beat the best ... and suddenly you're one of the best yourself ... get it?

Lastly, some of these Strat Vets are also the very nicest and most willing to share what they know ... and what they think ... I'd look to join THEIR Leagues when I could if I were you.

I've run into nothing but good guys as other managers. Yes, I have been in your situation as well, hammertime. In fact, we have played in a league together as I recall.

J-Pav was one such manager who came in -- not super late -- to a league that JUST coincidentally, had all triple digit mangers. J Pav was, of course, the most experienced by a factor of well over 10.

And while he did win a playoff spot, with his 4000 or so points, he LOST in the World Series to a guy with 300 points.

I've also dialogued with one high point manager who considered coming in to an under 500 league, and decided not to. A class thing to do.

I have had 11 teams, gotten to the playoffs three times, and won one Ring thus far. And yes, sometimes, I do want to play in a league that has a more level playing field, especially if I am, as J-Pav noted, trying a new card set.

With my 100 or so points, I've beaten out such elite as Aray, Mahoots, Kolak, Altec and Rick Ranger. It can be done and IS done everyday.

Plus, I have seen nothing but grace from these guys in sharing what they know with us newbies.

It is good to go in there against the best. You feel much better about winning than you would in a league that is made up of your level and lower.

Some guys have high points not because they are special or genius managers.... they just play a lot of teams at once. Don't let someone's point intimidate you... get a philosophy go with it and stay on course. The most important thing I can tell anyone is to avoid dropping players always seek trades first. My 434 team just swept a 4400 team for the championship... we were both very congradulatory to each other and had a really intense and interesting league. You can learn a lot from experienced players. I suggest you actually play with those guys see how they operate and integrate some of their ideas into your vision of how your team should be composed.

Theme/private leagues are the way to go if you don't want to run into an unwanted opponent - at least the ground rules are set.

Lots of people to learn from - try finding some of J-Pav's yearly articles in the archives and those will take you a long way.

Hammer, I'm totally with you on this one. The name of the league should be enough for someone speaking the common language to understand! Of course, private leagues are a great solution, but we're really talking basic sportsmanship here. You and I are both in a league where someone slipped in the backdoor - 12th team, and I'll tell you what, he hasn't impressed me in his response to the whole question at all!. As for "calling names" - I guess clown is the word in question, but having done 4 in the USN, gotta say that's really low on the meter.

Overall, the vast majority of folks playing sure do seem great, in finis.

In a bit of irony, I just joined [b:b4d7612b99]Altec1969[/b:b4d7612b99]'s league entitled "2000++ Mgr Rating Points." Seems pretty self-explanatory to me, yet eight of the 12 managers joined having [i:b4d7612b99]not only less[/i:b4d7612b99] than 2000 points, but less than 1000 points. In the rush to join an autoleague, it looks like no one is reading the league names (or just simply nobody cares)!

Just as a point of reference.

I don't play that many compared to some... my rating is around 3000... I win more than I lose... my rings ratio is above average as is my playoff appearances.

Would you be bothered by me joining your league?

Now... does the fact that I have not played a 2009 season or even looked at the cards make a difference?

I play nothing anymore except ATG... my guess is any of you that have played more than two 2009 seasons would be far ahead of me going in.
