Help for a Newbie

I have read the picther card and searhed the internet and the forums and cannot find the answer to this question. What does "C0" mean after a pitchers endurance rating (e.g., S6/R3/C0) and what does an asterisk mean (e.g., S6*)? Thanks.

The asterisk means that the pitcher only needs 3 days of rest between starts instead of 4 for those SP without an *. These pitchers generally cost a little more than SP without the * since they can pitch more often. Many managers go with 4 *SP and pitch them every 4th game all season long. They would then draft a 50K SP and put him 5th in the rotation settings. This pitcher would never pitch.

The C rating is the closer rating. The number after the C is the number of outs the closer can go in a closing situation before being susceptable to getting tired. Most people go with a C4 or higher as their closer.

i almost always use 4 SP*. My fifth starter will usually be a S6/R3 so that he can pitch in relief especially as mopup. I also look for this non-*SP to be a strong 5L or 6R so that he can used as a specialist instead of never being used.

One more question. Can a LF play RF or CF, or do I have to have a starter and a backup for each position? Thanks.

Hi,

I'll handle this one:

If a position is not on the player's card, he CAN play BUT, the penalty will make him less than useless in the field. A 1 CF without a LF rating will be something like a "5 e 40" or something (I don't have the fielding chart at hand).

You don't need a backup for EACH OF position, but you would be wise to have one or two cheaper OF to cover all three between them in case of injuries.

Caution too on the "Balance" of each player. If you have an 8R or 9R RF, he will probably hit like crop against LH pitching, so you would want to set up a platoon with a strong L Bal hitter.

Be careful with the "balance" though. A 3L Jeter or a 5L Kemp will still hit better vs RH's than most of their respective peers at the same position.

pay attention to the parks in your division. tailor your pitching to win in your division first. i've never used 4*sps. don't trust the l/r splits against them.
