Im about to start my first non dh league. How does HAL handle the pitchers? does he pinch hit often? If you set your starter to do not remove before F8 will HAL still pinch hit for him or leave him in?
Thanks!

So, I guess that prompts the question of "What religion is HAL, actually?". And with all due respect, I seem to pray to his highness often.

Yes, HAL will still pinch hit if he (it?) feels it's appropriate.
HAL is capable of some truly awful moves, and I usually play DH leagues, but I don't think he's too bad with pinch hitting for pitchers. However, I promise you some will disagree!

I have only played in one no-DH league, and it's in 80's, where the option you mentioned doesn't exist. My guess is he will still pinch hit for that pitcher if you're trailing. If the pitcher is kicking butt and you have a lead, I'm pretty sure he'll leave him be. But if you're down he's gonna do whatever he can to get back in it, even lifting your Ace after just 5-6 IP to try to get some runs on the board.

I've played in two non-DH leagues. I actually really like it. It appeals to my sense of traditional baseball (I was following baseball before the DH rule came to the AL).
For what it's worth, I think HAL made pretty good decisions on PH or not PH in those leagues, as far as I saw it. However, my general advice is to have a decently large lineup, for both pitchers and hitters. HAL makes better decisions in online strat when he has lots to work with, in my experience.
Cheers and good luck!
