This should be a fun theme league that will hopefully reignite some fading interest in the '09 set. We'll have a simple 2 round live draft on the boards followed by a [i:322388e246]frenzy[/i:322388e246]. No waivers here.

This will be a [i:322388e246]frenzy[/i:322388e246]/no waivers (explained later)

[b:322388e246]European Stand-Off Theme League Rules:[/b:322388e246]

[b:322388e246]* [/b:322388e246]A 2 Round Live Draft in serpentine order as follows:

[u:322388e246]Round 1[/u:322388e246] will consist of picking a European Country. When picked, the Manager will own the "rights" to all the players that correspond to that Country. When I say correspond I mean whatever "letter" that Country starts with that Manager will hold rights to all players whose last name begins with that letter. For example, Manager 1 picks Belgium, so he owns the rights to all players whose last name begins with "B." Countries starting with the same letter can only be picked once; for example, if Belgium has been picked Belarus can't be picked later.

[u:322388e246]Round 2[/u:322388e246] will consist of picking any player from letters not corresponding to someone's Country. You cannot pick a player that starts with the same letter as the 12 Countries picked in Round 1. The serpentine format should give those on the end an advantage they didn't have in Round 1.

[b:322388e246]* [/b:322388e246]Filling Out Your Draft Card:

1 - On your draft card you can [u:322388e246]only [/u:322388e246]put players whose last name begins with your Country OR players whose last name begins with a letter not from one of the 12 picked Countries.

2 - Players in which you own the rights to should be put at the bottom of your draft card.

3 - Once the frenzy starts all players are fair game. Let me repeat that: ALL players are fair game once the frenzy starts. If someone decides to drop the player picked in Round 2 they can be picked up as well. Country designations do not apply once the frenzy starts.

[b:322388e246]* [/b:322388e246]Additional Tidbits:

1 - Your team name should reflect your Country.

2 - Your Manager name should be someone associated with your Country, whether famous or infamous.

3 - [u:322388e246]Vets highly preferred.[/u:322388e246] If I don't know you you'll need to have a reference from another Vet. This is because there's been so many problems in theme leagues this year from people who try and find loopholes in the rules, don't know etiquette, etc.

4 - Randomizer will be done when league fills. Your number assignment will be the number you are when signing up.

5 - Please be available for the live draft if signing up. A two-hour time limit will be imposed thru Friday. If we're still drafting during the weekend a 6 hour T.L. will be imposed. 9am to midnight EDT.

6 - The U.K. will be the official Country for this draft. So Eng., Scot., Wales, and No. Ire. do not count)

No doubt about that. But what does it say about us, that we so happily follow along?

For those interested (and those who failed geography), I figured out what letters have and do not have representation. I think the only ones that are [u:5032649ed2]not[/u:5032649ed2] represented are: J, K, O, Q, W, X, Y, and Z.

FYI, I've played with Eddie E before, and he's definitely a vet. I may join this league after a few more commit.

Yes Eddie you're in.

Nice work Dave. Looks like we may have to put some players on our draft cards that we may not necessarily want but have to due to letter restraints.

Thanks, guys. This looks like fun. What about Kosovo? I believe that is a European country according to the European Atlas at Infoplease.com. Other than that I would concur with AeroDave's quick synopsis of available letters.
