HAL fields position player as replacement catcher ???

I know this is ATG, but it's a general question, really.

[quote:6699ada30c]
M. Cochrane Injured for 7 more games
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 7 ***
SUBSTITUTE C - Eddie Kasko[/quote:6699ada30c]

[b:6699ada30c][i:6699ada30c]My other catcher -- Willard Hershberger -- was hitting DH at the time.[/i:6699ada30c][/b:6699ada30c]

Why wouldn't HAL plug Willard behind the plate, and slot Kasko in the DH hole??

Ever happen to anyone else?

If your DH who is your backup catcher were to be substituted for your injured catcher, that would mean that the pitcher would have to hit. And that I believe is a big negatory negative in the DH world of strat on line.

Am I right?

This is a DH league, and the far simpler answer is: when my regular catcher was injured, simply Slot Kasko -- or any of my other 7 hittere -- into the DH slot and move my DH (my second catcher) behind the plate.

I've never seen a pitcher hit in Strat DH league.

Artie,

As Bill pointed out, that is impossible. Just as in real-life baseball, if the starting DH moves to a position in the field during the game, that team loses the DH slot for the remainder of the game and the pitcher (the guy for whom the DH is hitting), MUST be inserted into the batting lineup.

As both you and Bill also astutely noted, SOM online does not like removing the DH and will do everything possible to keep that from happening.

Confirmation on what was said above. I've Never seen the DH moved to another position during a game. Quite sure it will never happen.

Your B/U Catcher (or any position) will be moved to that position for the following game, however. And you'll have a new DH for that (next) game.

Honestly, I would prefer to lose my DH and have my backup catcher in there behind the dish, than going with a 5 with a +5 arm . . . it'd be worth it to me. But I always did prefer National League ball.

I can attest to what these guys are saying too, and it may be enough that you don't want to bat your backup C at DH for just this. Then again, I think in 80's HAL won't move your DH in ensuing games, even if it's the last remaining guy to fill a position. I have much less experience with the other game types.
