2011 Super Keeper League - FULL

[quote:9156f1baf4]Initial Draft:
1) The initial draft is a 41 round live draft. Rounds 1 through 40 are for players; Round 41 is for the stadium.
2) [b:9156f1baf4]Only those players who were issued SOM cards this year and appear on TSN"s website are eligible for the initial draft.[/b:9156f1baf4] [/quote:9156f1baf4]

However, with this rule the way it is written Posey, Heyward and a boatload of others won't be draftable in the FA draft. I get the impression the wording for that rule is for leagues that have been in progress for awhile. For a beginning keeper league how about this (from tcochran's start-up keeper league that just finished drafting):

[quote:9156f1baf4]5) Only those players who played at least one MLB game during the 2010 season may be selected.
6) Buyer beware: If a player is drafted but then does not receive a card in the set for the coming season, he still remains on a team's roster. There are no replacement picks allowed later.

I'm not in this league, but I did write these rules, as dan cribbed them from two of the keeper leagues I run, USKL 3 and NAKL. They were written this way not for the reason you listsd but for the following 2 reasons:

1. To allow the live draft site, at the time penngray's, now diamond dope, to be used so we could set proxies and utilize the site.

2. To spread the talent out between this year and next.

Of course the rules weren't meant for a pre-card draft as they were written after the TSN release that year and were to protect aginst drafting uncardsed rookies that were currently tearing it up during the then current MLB season.

I would suggest that you do follow the rules from the other league as you suggested as they are close to the spirit of the orignal rules as intended.

Niners, I always wondered who wrote the rules followed by most keeper leagues. Now I know. Was it an ongoing process or did you bang them out one night in a long moment of inspiration?

Well... I shouldn't say I wrote them all. It was really a collaborative effort on the part of several people. Snadlotshrink laid a foundation with the first USKL, then kaviksdad added more with USKL2 qksilver even more with HCKL, and then the USKL 3/NAKL version, which these are, added even more.

I keep tweaking them too, cause everytime we get a new replacement manager, something comes up that wasn't thought of, or covered. I'm not even sure the original copy exists anymore, I've added and tweaked things so many times.

I was really looking at that earlier today and was wondering what other people were thinking as well. I agree that we should change the initial draft rules to:

**Anyone who has played one MLB game during the '10 season**

Also

**Buyer beware: If a player is drafted but then does not receive a card in the set for the coming season, he still remains on a team's roster. There are no replacement picks allowed later.** (to steal from tcochrans rules ;)

RULE CHANGE PLEASE READ!

Postby thisisdan26 » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:14 pm

There has been a rule change for the Initial Player Draft. It is as follows and has been edited in the "League Rules" on page 1.

2) Any player who played in at least ONE MLB game during the 2010 is eligible.
3) Buyer beware: If a player is drafted but then does not receive a card in the set for the coming season, he still remains on a team's roster. There are no replacement picks allowed later.

It also took the patience and the self-affacing posture adopted by many of us who have found ourselves playing in these guys leagues as they whooped us from hear to DesMoines and back again!

The Rules do work though, and the Leagues are fun. 8-)
