Danny Valencia 2010...whats wrong with him?

I noticed in most if not all my leagues, alot of managers are avoiding Valencia, despite having one the better AVG for a 3B. So whats the reason? I had him one full season, and maybe I know why.

1) Way too many gb(A)'s. He led the league in GIDP for my league I had him in.
2) 3L balance, as there usually are more RHP then LHP faced in a season.
3) Slugging not enough for his salary?

But considering how thin it is at 3B, why not use him? Just picking your great Strat minds...

I used him once in a platoon with Pedro Alvarez.

Got great results from him.

Yeah, he did ok with me. Was real clutch in postseason too with the BP HR's surprisingly.

I tried Pedro Alveraz in another league. Pathetic results. Disappointed really, I thought he would do awesome vs. RHP. But I cut him with less then 100 AB's, so who knows if he could have came around.

Seems like 2010 has much more variety in platoons. Also, impressed with the number of catchers (and others) with pure HR's (usually in the 1-4 and 9-12 die roll range). Don't remember that much in recent card years.

A couple cards Andruw Jones and Thames have ballpark HR on 7 roll, which isn't too common. Real impressed with Thames vs. RHP as a platoon. But disappointed in Jones, too high of a salary for that, and not enough LHP to justify it.

Nice results Socal.

With the lack of good depth at 3B, I might have to try that platoon at 3B. Except having Valencia as a LRHP 3B is a little spendy for my taste, even in a 100 mil league.

I like how the 2nd and 3rd time go around once the first set of 2010 leagues is done, do we see differing strategies by different managers as we try to see what works.

ie. I see a lot of higher priced catchers go unselected, as the perceived value is not there. (See David Ross!)
