Catcher Substitute

Here's one I haven't noticed before. Snyder goes down with an injury and my only other catcher, Posada come into the game. Then, in the bottom of the 8th - after Posada had made the final out in the top of the 8th - Hinske (no C rating) substitutes defensively for Posada.

Same thing happened in my next game, without the injury - except this time brought in Jamey Carroll as a defensive sub for Posada (granted a poor fielder).

Any explanations?

I bet you have Posada checked as "remove for defensive substitute". If so you need to uncheck this when Snyder is injured or HAL will honor your wishes and pull Posada for someone else.

You are exactly correct - thanks. In Game 3, when I didn't have the lead, HAL left Posada in for the entire game - as expected.

I learned this truth the hard way by losing a deciding playoff game.

So basically you NEVER want to check "remove for defensive sub" on your backup catcher (if you only have 2 catchers).
