Net Play Connection Problems

Is there troubleshooting place where I can find wisdom for net play? I'm trying to connect with someone and we can't seem to get it right. Neither one of us has experience at net play.

there are a number of managers who have gone through similar experiences when starting out..... not sure I can really help but willing to try ....

I attempt net play-visitor. I have been typing his IP address. When I try to connect, I get a box indicating that it is unable to connect. There are two blank boxes but the directions only indicate to type the host IP address.

you only need to fill in the top box with the Home Teams IP.. and that soudns like what you have done.... that message usually means that there may be a firewall or router between you and the home team .. is that the case ??
even the XP firewall can block a connection

How do I open these two ports? I know these seem like very basic questions. It was so much easier to roll 3 dice.
