In a 2010 league with 5-man rotation (all non-SP*) and one get injured, Hal takes closer to start, pitches 5 innings and then used as a closer 3 games later, what gives? Should be at least 4-5 games before a closer can even pitch or at least come in below F9. I thought that if a SP was injured that Hal would start a SP less than F9?

Nope, he gives the start to whoever appears to HAL to be the most reasonable relief pitcher. I think he typically favors a R2 or R3 guy over a closer, but I've seen guys like Rivera get starts.

If you run out of relievers because of a super long game, HAL will bring in a starter and put him at F4.

In either case, 2 games later the starter or reliever that makes the unusual appearance is back at normal stamina.
