http://www.stratfanforum.com/forums/index.php

There is a football forum and a separate football league openings forum.

But as geekor says below, you have to actually coach the games yourself, there is no HAL (or VINCE, TOM, whatever).

stop reminding me of it!!!

:P

Yea there was strat football here back in 01/02/03. the 03 was got broken, corrupted all the football sites.

they never gave it a proper AI, no real defense, and... NO PLAYOFFS!

So it died with no real backing behind it.

Funny cause football, even in strat land, is a bigger seller. Wish they would make it workable and bring it back.

I'd also love to have Stratomatic Football come back.

I played the Strat Football game with the cards and the dice for several years as a kid (Kenny Stabler rocked a few of those years) - it was a phenomenal game!!

If the game were available online, I bet it would be a monster seller. Might be difficult to work out the mechanics of a short 16-game season, though.

And how...

Strat football was always their best game, to me [ducks]. The online version had some issues, its true, but with all the time that's passed, you'd think they could be dealt with by now.

Maybe one day it'll make a return ...

Are the online problems inherant in the strato game itself?

The Strat Football board game blows the baseball game out of the water IMHO. The baseball game seems to come down to dice rolls even with all the charts, the rules for fielding checks, stealling, bunting etc. But football... whole differnt animal. Unfortunatly what makes the football board game great, doesn't translate well to an automated online game, and that's the back and forth playcalling. Anyone who has played knows what I mean.

You know, the joy of hitting the "Defensive back in zone" on a defense's long pass card, right when the defensive coach moves the safety up to cover the flat pass zone you've been pounding away at for the last 2 series 'cause his left Linebacker is a 0 rated defender.

Or

Calling 6 to 8 running plays in a row, that work ( mostly because teh defensive coach guess wrong) and having the defensive coach keep calling pass, 'cause he thinks "therer's no way he'll run it AGAIN".

Or

Timing a blitz just right, so you've got 3 linebackers coming just as the offense calls for as long pass and D comes up on the X-die.

Those things just weren't duplicated in the version TSN had here, and frankly without sitting down on the computer to play head to head in real time, I fail to see how having those experiences could be done.

I'll try it though if they ever bring it back.

I think a live time league would be MUCH simpler to impliment( and a WHOLE bunch more fun). No autorun programming just old fashioned FTF(via the internet) Doesnt strato have an internet play version?

Yes, the computer version of the game includes head to head online.
