Trader Joes Theme League

I do not know if this will fly - especially as I have not done a theme league in ages ... but hopefully it will.

The Concept:

To see who has the best "eye for talent" and can make the best trades "under pressure".

How it works.

Everyone builds a team designed to fit a 100m roster cap.

By the end of the season EVERY starting player* MUST have been traded or released off your roster.

* - Starting players are defined as such
Any SP who would normally acquire 100 IP
Any RP who would normally acquire 50 IP
Any Bat who would normally acquire 300 PA

How?

You may trade or release your players with the following stipulations:

1 - Max of 1 pre-season trade or 4 FA moves (waivers not included)
2 - Minimum of 1 trade per week / 1 FA move per week
3 - Must maintain a minimum of 80m Salary

Remember:

The season deadline for free agent transactions is Game 142. After Game 142, no transactions may be made ... Therefore you must have totally overhauled your roster by this deadline.

Each Division will have an owner who is responsible for
(a) making sure each team (in their division) makes 1 trade / FA move per week
(b) ensuring that all teams keep between 80-100m in salary

To make it easier for trades/fa moves ... we will play in a 200m League BUT with the above salary restrictions.

Hey AT, many years ago I was in a similar theme league. The rules then were that once a player hit 100 plate appearances, a SP hit 60 IPs and a reliever hit 30 IPs......they had to be released or traded. You then had a lot of strategy to consider at game #142 where your team got locked. You definitely need veterans to do something like your doing. I'll give this a shot. What game are you thinking? The new 2011 that comes out in a couple weeks? or a different game?

I was planning on going with the current 2010 season - so as to give people a chance to use players they normally dont use but if we don't fill soon .... I will postpone it til after the new card set comes out and do it then. :)
