Im still having problems figuring out the starting pitching as the results seem a bit random.
Which is more important OB % or total bases?
Opinions?

There are surely other factors at play ( like ball park effects for example) but as a rule of thumb, OB is more important than TB. in general you want your pitchers to allow as few base runners as possible and you batters to generate as many as possible.

well, as a surrogate to a ratings system, I would suggest using walks + TB /108 (factoring in park of course) as a decent rule of thumb.

tony,
For what it is worth I have seen Joe's ratings help out many, many managers. It is brilliant primer material. The caveat here is he routinely gets smashed by users in our NLD league who do not use his system. :P
Note: i may have been a bit liberal with the terms routinely and smashed.

To add what Superfly said about park affects. If I'm in a pitchers park I look at hits & TB. In a lower run environment the doubles/triples and even single* hurt more than walks.
In a hitters park I look at OB and bphr's. Keeping people off base is critical.
