Extra Conservative?

Extra Conservative?

Postby Tanooki » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:28 pm

I am facing an opponent tonight who's outfield is [b:161aae70ae](-3)(-2)(-3)[/b:161aae70ae]
and am thinking of using [i:161aae70ae]extra conservative[/i:161aae70ae] on my [i:161aae70ae]base running[/i:161aae70ae] tonight.

I was just wondering if there is anything unexpected I might look forward to, any repercussions?

is this even a good idea? hehe

any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated :D

I say challenge those arms!! You can't crap like an elephant if you eat like a bird.
I don't know what that really means, but it has something to do with being aggressive to win.

Your base running should always be set to "AGGRESSIVE" if you want to win. The settings take into account the outfielder's arms so you don't have to. The computer (Hal) will run the bases way too conservatively unless you set it to "Aggressive".

I set it to conservative about 90% of the time

k, now i'm starting to get confused

my original theory was to mostly use conservative as well (big HR/Power team with high OB%, low avg. and very little speed) I have had great luck so far. Tried extra conservative for the first time last night and swept the series.

any other thoughts on this? i'm curious to see what others here think about this ...

I leave mine on normal most of the time unless the other team's outfielders have really bad or really good arms. In your case, I probably would have gone to conservative for that series.

I would have written exactly what Knerrpool wrote if he hadn't done it first.

It also depends on whether you have a speedy team or not. I tend to leave mine on aggressive, adjusting as needed for really bad or really good arms, as above.
