In a league I am in, I decided to go with Ellis at 2B, but he has been awful at the plate. My backup is kelly johnson, and i try to pinch hit him a lot. I am tempted to drop ellis for rickie weeks and johnson for getz, because i cant stomach a sub .400 OPS at 2B. Weeks looks like he has great offensive stats, and Getz would be a decent defensive replacement.
In that league, I have a 1 at SS and 2 in CF. My team has been decent hitting, but ellis has left a lot of guys on base. We play in Great American park.
What I want to know is if a team with a 4 at 2B can compete for championships. Have teams with bad MI won it all? thanks

I've run quite a few sims with my computer game specifically for this scenario. I found that a 2B-2 E4 and virtually no bat outweighs a bat like Weeks or Kelly Johnson. Not only does the 2 rating reduces hits allowed and the E4 reduce errors to almost nothing, the 2 rating turns more double plays as well.
If Weeks and Johnson were premium bats, it might make a difference. I would stick with the banjo hittin' Ellis.

Weeks doesn't hit that well, to make up for his dismal fielding.

I respectfully disagree with Kev,
Weeks gives up too many bases when Ellis would end an inning, I don't think Weeks bat makes up for it. I would go with Ellis.
Can you win with a "4"? sure, but your chances are much better with a "1" or "2"

Ellis is better when using Runs Created formulas weighted based on fielding. Add the fact the injury is better for Ellis gives you 2 reasons to select him.
Better alternative to both is Barney.
Good luck,
Rob

Where can I find the RC formulas based on hitting and fielding? Barney is avail as well. You think I should pick him up?
