Fielder rating?

Fielder rating?

Postby Szerio » Sun May 06, 2012 12:57 am

Just played a game against a team who's starting shortstop was injured. He was replaced with Bill Robinson, a player who I like but not rated at shortstop. Regardless Robinson had two ground ball X's to him at short, and handled both cleanly.

I thought if a player had to play a position not rated at, he would get the worst possible rating. Otherwise why stock good fielding backups?

Some tricks not shared with the public?

You are correct about players receiving the worst rating, however even the worst fielders will handle some chances cleanly. If they play enough they will make a lot of errors but they might get lucky and have an errorless game or two. If your starters are "1" injury rated you can probably get away with having terrible defensive backups and it won't hurt you much.

Even my Little Leaguers will pick up 4 out of 10 groundballs.

Well, maybe 3 of 10.
