Well, I followed the advice of several nice folks and did utililize a draft strategy. This after my first strat team lost 90 games. Ended up with a decent lineup and low and behold both Randy Johnson and Santana,LOL.

Talk about an embarrassment of riches!

Now if I can just get a bullpen LOL

Remember now with those 2 guys, they are usually going to pitch deep into games.

You don't have to spend ALOT on your bullpen.

I have seen one team with both those guys. Unfortunatley he had nothing else and finished WAY under .500. WOund up trading them both. See what you can get for one of them and make sure its not in your division.

that exact thing happened to me....ended up with both of them, playing in safeco, thought i would dominate....
ended up going 66-96 my WORST team.....

if you can post a link to your team...trading santana maybe an option depeending on your needs...

I think you need a RHSP or 2.

Granted you're in Turner but, a reverse RH or 2 is probably better to have on this team.

Colome probably should go. That 9R is nice BUT he gives up too many BPHR's for your park.

I think you should look for a LH closer. Obviously the top of the line is Wagner, but guys like Guardado can be very effective here. Marte is decent as well.

I'd keep RJ and see if there are any takers for Santana. Schilling, Oswalt, Radke or Escobar are the guys I would look into.

I think you have a pretty good team. You really don't want to have two starting 4 corner OFs. Drop Carlos Lee for a LH (or switch) better fielding OF like Mabry, Burnitz, Sledge, Figgins, Davannon, or Crisp. The first 3 for power or the last 3 for leadoff.

Drop Borkowski for any 50ยข guy. No need to give away the extra money on a guy you hope never pitches. If you have a RH park (Wrigley, Fenway, Minute Maid, etc) in your division you might want to trade Bork in for a cheap hard RHP like Beckett or the like.

I'd keep Lee for his balanced offensive output--more natural power than sheffield vs righties in that park...more hits, yet he's cheaper. You already have some lefty protection. So I would ditch Sheffield and pick up a solid 5-6 mile LH RF. Mabry is good--maybe a BGiles since you already have Kielty or someone like that with him--plenty of righties who hit lefties.

Would be great if you could get a guy like Mahay and ditch colome.

Your core is there with folks like Kotsay and the 2 big arms...but DWillis is likely replaceable with a righty. Your park is slightly lefty, but not enough to warrant all lefty starters. I think without some pitching adjustments and another strong lefty bat, you may have some trouble. With the 2 big boppers you'll have the advantage 2 out of every 4 games and just need a couple to round out the staff.

Oh and note when I say ditch I mean trade if possible
