Would it not be appropriate to pinch hit Kevin Mench (set for pinch hitter vs. LHP) for Chase Uttley (set for avoid LHP) with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th of a 1 run game when the opponent subs in a LHP? Or, is that not done just because that particular LHP is better vs. RH hitters. (Tommy Phelps is the pitcher in question). Why bother with all the settings, otherwise?
