New Coors team any thoughts.....

Burning a credit, looking for thoughts as this is my second Coors team ever i believe.

just for fun, here's a coors theory: focus your pitching staff around BP singles...or rather those pitchers WITHOUT BP singles (there's about 50 or so out there). So that <SINGLE and <fb that both become 1-19 hits at Coors, are suddenly OUTS. So these pitchers (see Hasagawa against righties) are maximized at Coors (relative to most pitchers, who have the standard BP singles).

I believe this might give you a slight advantage, and since it is stricktly a ballpark advantage, I doubt if it figures overly into their salary figures. I'm testing this theory out with two teams now (only six games in), so we'll see...

I tried Drese several times, but my lord does he give up the hits...I think he gave up nearly 300 hits for me once. Wells is also a home run waiting to happen. Look for good pitchers with no-BP singles instead...

I agree with the previous post with the exception that you also need to focus on BPHR. I am trying my first Coors field team and they have started pretty well with cheap SP and good Bullpen. Here is the link.

I also agree with the last post...of course, limit BPHRs...but i think the BP singles may be something many overlook (I certainly did)...plus, I think it's not reflected in salary, which increases relative value...

also look for double plays...with lots of baserunners, the DP becomes more important...

here's my coors teams, all have done well...all first place, except for the one trailing the awesome dneedle...

For what it's worth, I had pretty good success with cheap SPs that give up a few bphrs and have bp singles on their card -- they all give up OB that is relatively low for their price, but give up more XBH. My personal theory is just to limit OB chances in coors because there's always a BPHR or bp single waiting to happen anyway - sacrifice giving up more XBH in trade for more outs...

good point...

coors is rather mysterious...

i've had good luck with great hitters from pitcher's parks...Bonds, Snow, Walker, Quinlan...they rip at Coors of course...their home runs are natural, so they rock at shea and petco as well (relatively speaking)...

coors is fun...for my money there's nothing like a six-run comback in the bottom of the ninth. Maybe some day one of my teams will do that.
