Harden, Halladay and Felix Hernandez are all non* SP priced at over 8m. I doubt they will get used much. That is way too high to have to build a 5 man rotation around.
There are quite a few players that have a 5 fielding rating as their best rating this year.

I agree LM and I'm quite peeved by it. I drafted Harden and Hernandez in a precard league and there's pretty much no way I would spend that much money on a non * pitcher in an 80 mil league. I can't fugure out the logic behind those prices.

Maybe they want to even out the competitive factor. If everyone stocked up on the non *SP pitchers then others wouldn't get any of the good ones. I don't know...it's just a thought.
This way...everyone gets one or two but not all of them. Plausible?

But Harden and Felix both have awesome cards. Compare their ob and tb number to most other pitchers (other than clemens) and you will see they are at the top of the pitchers. That is why they are so high.
btw, I feel this game has more bargain than 05 ever had, but it's all in context of what park you play.
For instance, Linebrink ob vs, so's, and dp's numbers are fantastic, plus no BP hr's. Only thing keeping him away from being a great rp is the +6 hold.
Though the DH platoon I'll be trying to use a lot this year will be Garabito/Young at leadoff ;)

Seems like there could be ALOT of platooning in the 2006 cards...

My thought is that you are essentially locking yourself into a 5 man rotation if you spend that much $ on a non-* starter, so to sink 9MM for one leaves you with roughly 12-14 million max to spend on 4 other starters. So you'll have one stud and a bunch of scrubs unless you want to sacrifice in other areas. (assuming you are looking at the common 30/50 spend split)
I'm not arguing the quality of his card, I'm arguing the possibility of winning with him.
I'm going to try it so I'll be sure to let you all know how it works.

There also seems to be lots more positive clutch around than in '05.

thanks mfsleeze...let us all know how it goes. By the time I can play the game I'll have an idea of spending strategy from you guys. good luck.

IMO...there is way more pitching.....sp and rp...though the closers are weaker than last year....
also...im finding it very difficult to build what i think will be an offense similar to last year
