2006

I know everyone is excited with the new set, but is this set really set up for an $80 million league? Is this years Brian Roberts really worth $6 million more than last years Luis Castillo? Clemens $3 million more than Schmidt? Just two of many examples. Granted, everyone is in the same boat, so its relative. Putting together a draft list is challenging (and not too fun), and for a new endeavor, I'm finding myself already waning in interest. There are players that will be basically unusable in an $80 million league (ie F. Hernandez, is he really $4 million better than 05's Oliver Perez?).

Oh well, we play with the cards handed to us so to speak.

I agree. There won't be much hitting OR pitching in the $60 million leagues.

Who would want to even try a $60 million league with all these guys and their prices?

They've really limited the possibilities. Maybe it would be better with a non DH league, and certainly better for a $100 million one, but I thought $80 million was perfect for 05. At least everyone was usable, including Bonds. Now, selecting one high priced player severely limits your ability to put together a well balanced team. Granted, I'll adjust, but still.

I may find myself doing more theme leagues, or more DH less ones. Just have not found myself all too excited about putting together a team.

I played in a lot of 100 m leagues last year and had no problem filling up my roster with players...frankly I liked it better and I thought it gave me a better chance to trade...Now they have ruined that by making the 100m leagues the same as last years 80 m leagues..plyeres this year are overpriced by 10 percent I think...They had it perfect last year. Why did they change it, the Beta testers probably had too much to say and were WRONG.

It certainly is more challenging to draft a team in 2006....but i think it will make the seasons more balanced..........................more challenging

also , something i noticed...and maybe it has been is the past games....but i have never seen a ZERO injury rating til this year.......

They've had zero injury ratings in the past, but they are rare -- a player has to play every single game.

Interestingly (or perhaps not), Strat used to give an injury to every card, whether or not a player played every game. They changed in 1984 or 85, after Cal Ripken played every inning of every game. But I believe that if you look at the original 1930 season cards, Lou Gehrig's card has an injury on it.

I think that people are just freaking out because they haven't found the bargains yet. I've looked through these cards and see guys that i think will totally overperform their assigned dollar amount. The same thing happened last year with people saying everybody was overpriced. However, I believe 05 was the best game yet. Let's give it some time. Afterall, the games haven't even started yet! Maybe some of those "overpriced" cards won't turn out to be as bad as everybody thinks. And also, just accept it that you're paying a premium for Defense this year. People may have to be happy with a 3 or 4 at some key positions.

They have always existed. In the 2001 game I put Arod, Tejada, and Cabrera so I would get at least one of the bulletproof shortstops. Then whichever one I got built the team around that player.

If they play in 162 they get the 0 injury.

Like Bab siad, Tejeda has been a 0 injury every year, Huff and Ichiro usually are.
