2006 Beat the Boss

Here is the gist....Two teams are selected in a live draft. Here is the catch, the Yankee's cannot be selected and the two teams combined cannot exceed the Yankees payroll of $205,938,439. Pretty simple.
The rest of the rules are simple:
1. 10 players from each team must be on the 25 man roster.
2. The remainig teams players are selected in a 5 round live draft. Yankee players can be selected from this pool.
3. Players of the two teams selected are yours, the extras are in "AAA" and can be brought up at anytime. If you drop any of the 5 players that you drafted they are fair game and can be claimed by anyone.

We can figure out how to handle the live draft after we get participants. We will also decide how much the penalty for dropping players will be and how much the salary cap will be.

Here are the payrolls for last year(according to CBS)

1. New York Yankees $205,938,439
2. Boston Red Sox $121,311,945
3. New York Mets $104,770,139
4. Philadelphia Phillies $95,337,908

8. Chicago Cubs $87,210,933
9. Seattle Mariners $85,883,333
10. Atlanta Braves $85,148,582
11. Los Angeles Dodgers $81,029,500
12. Houston Astros $76,779,022
13. Chicago White Sox $75,228,000
14. Baltimore Orioles $74,570,539

gives you an idea of how out of whack the real life Yankee payroll is.... bascially any two teams combo except for a combo of Red Sox and Mets does not equal the Yankees single team payroll.....

Ok here are the answers to the rest of the questions:

1. DH league
2. Stadiums must be one of the two teams selected
3. Team name must be a combination of the two...ex: St. Louis Rockies
4. We will live draft after we can fill the league....Probably the following day after we can get enough people on the list
5. I was leaning toward a 100 mil. cap, but I am open if you guys would like a bigger one, or a smaller one
6. The penalty for FA drops will be 10%

Anymore questions just post 'em!

Put me down as an alternate for now . I will be traveling mid next week for a week . I'd hate to commit then not be able to . If this league moves along quickly and can draft before next Sunday , I'm in then . :D

I would only add that I hope the live draft of teams will be done 1,2,3... and second round 12,11,10... otherwise you could get really screwed. In other words with the restrictions in play getting at least one good team is imperative.

Question: Are we talking Yankees of 2005 or 2006. In other words is Damon going be a Yankee or a Red Sox for our purposes?

Question: Let's say I get the Red Sox and the Rangers as my two teams and I don't want to take Ortiz in the ten player allocation because I have Texiera and other power hitters; Will Ortiz be available in the dispersion draft or will all players on the two teams slected be the property of the owner of those two teams?

Question: will we be required to carry eleven pitchers? What will be the minimum roster? 23? Will there be any specific requirement for choosing pitchers from the two teams? Like will we be required to take a minimum of 6,7,or 8 pitchers from the rosters of our two teams. I would like to see that restriction personally so the integrity of the idea of basically choosing players from two teams intact. Otherwise I could pick a team with no picthing and use my five additional picks and have only five (or 6) picthers from my two base teams. I would like to see 8 pitchers coming from the rosters of the two teams.

I would like to see a $100 million cap. Now that I basically changed the rules here... Just kidding, I'll go with any rules just thought I would ask.

Ok let me see if I can cover the questions that were asked:

1. Damon is going to be with the BoSox
2. Members of the two teams are property of the player owning the two teams.
3. There will be no requirements on the amount of pitching or hitting. As long as you have at least 10 of each of the two teams that is fine. You can keep all five of your free agents or you can trim it down to 23 as long as you have your 10 players from each. You could take a team with no pitching if you wanted, but you are going to have get another with at least a little because you can't have a staff of just 5 pitchers! :D
4. The live draft will go 1,2,3...and second round 12,11,10....

Ok how did I do?? Anymore suggestions just let 'em rip!
