[i:7aa6e5d3c3]04/03/2006 - 04/09/2006[/i:7aa6e5d3c3]

A 20-inning marathon, a no-hitter by bargain pitcher Jason Davis, and even a 5-homerun explosion by David Ortiz (yeah, it's been done before in SOM Online, but never in real life) were among the awesome boxscores nominated for last week's Game of the Week, but one 1-0 game struck me as so unusual that I was compelled to pick it over all the other amazing individual performances.

Scott Kazmir and Brad Thompson of the Manhattan Punishers combine to throw an official 9-inning no-hitter - but lose to the East Granby Home Wreckers, who score a lone unearned run thanks to a catcher's throwing error on Omar Vizquel's steal attempt, and oh yeah, their pitchers weren't too shabby either.

Post the URL of the game here; if there's some context that goes with the game, be sure to write that up too. We're considering games for the whole week, Monday through Sunday. And, at the end of the year, we'll pick one game from the list of GotW's whose winning team [b:7aa6e5d3c3]will win a free 1-year subscription to The Sporting News weekly magazine![/b:7aa6e5d3c3]

That was basically a perfect game on both sides if you consider the # of batters (26 vs. 28) ... never seen a game where the min # of batters on both sides was used ... great choice Bernie!!

That's pretty cool, uncle ny. Strong early contender!

17 scoreless innings, the bats come alive in the 18th....

17 scoreless innings, then the visiting teams scores 2 in the top of the 18th, but somehow I get 3 in the bottom and win it!

This could be one of the greatest games in the history of baseball.

or one of the worse games. 27 men left on base in all. where are the clutch hits? But entertaining, nonetheless.

Michael Young hits for the cycle-- rarer than a no-no:

Willis goes complete game plus 1 in throwing shutout. Willis allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and strikeout 9, in pitching a 10 inning shutout and winning 1-0. I'll take it.
