Question about Error Ratings

Question about Error Ratings

Postby bleacher_creature » Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:18 pm

You know, I have played Strat for a long time, but I do not really know the excat answer to the following:

Q. What do the "e" ratings mean exactly? For example, J. Dye is an e10 in RF in the 2005 card set. Does this mean his card is engineered so that the mathematical probability is that he will make 10 errors in a season, if he avoided injury enough to accumulate say 600 PAs?

I have him at 10 errors through 93 games, [b:fd3fc58112]despite having a def replacement[/b:fd3fc58112]. He did have a rough start wth something like 6 errors in the 1st 10 games, which was an anomoly.

It's errors per 162 games. Just unlucky rolls, there.

One of the ways I've been looking at it is by percentages everytime the X comes up.

According to some rough calculations (which I think they err slightly on the high side) a RF e10 has about 18% of committing and error everytime the x roll comes up.

Dean is right, bad rolls there.

Outfielders and catchers also get errors on throws so they will likely end up with more errors over the course of 162 games than just their e ratings imply.

I don't think so. The X chances call it an error on the throw if I recall. In other wordsm the chart describes it as "error on the throw".

The only way for an outfielder to make ANY error is on an X chance.

Am I forgetting something?

The only time I had a throwing error playing the CD-Rom it did come from an OF-x but I don't know it that's the only way it can happen
