Postby spicki17 » Sun Apr 23, 2006 11:50 am

$80 Million, DH, Weighted Waivers, Advanced League

[b:53752db630]Auction League rules[/b:53752db630]

1) You can only have a maximum of $160 million in open bids and closed bids.

2) Managers must open at least four new players per day and no more than six until you have a total of 26 players opened or closed.

3) Opening minimum bid is .3 million for players $3 million or less, $1 million for players over $3 million

4) Bid increments are $.1 for bids $3 million or less, $.5 for bids over $3 million.

5) Bids expire once their 24-hour period is up.

6) Maximum 33 players per team.

7) Managers cannot bid on more than two stadiums at any given time – either open or closed bids.

8 ) All managers must be able to fill out a valid TSN draft card at the end of the auction. Failure to meet this requirement is a penalty of dropping your two highest bid players and replacing them to meet the TSN draft card requirement. Managers are responsible for monitoring their draft card while the auction is in progress to make sure they will be able to meet TSN roster requirements.

9) Trading is allowed during the auction, but it is not supported on the auction site (so can be done through this message board). -- [b:53752db630]this rule has been changed to the typical auction rule of no trading during the auction, only post auction.[/b:53752db630]

10) Once teams are drafted all players on the free agent wire become available to the entire league. -- [b:53752db630]this rule has been changed to the typical auction rule that all moves must be made thru the auction site and the only available players are those remaining to be bid on (on the auction site).[/b:53752db630]

[b:53752db630]Looking to fill this as early as possible. Any managers that cannot commit during this coming week should not enter in.

How are you going to work the auction cap if a trade is made during the auction?

my thoughts were to call the money a wash. if someone is dumb enough to bed like 30M on someone then trade them for a 5M guy, thats their loss. i dont think with the managers we have so far there will be any collusion so im not worried about that. i just hate keeping people from trading if they are to bid on/get 2 people at the same position.

does that sound ok to you guys? any other thoughts?

yes, it has to be that way... if i draft arod for 30 million, and trade him to spicki, who drafted tejada for 5 million, i still have spent 30 million, and spicki has still only spent 5 million...

i was thinking earlier that we should have a gentleman's rule that any player over $20M must be increased by 10% of the current bid (i.e. a guy at $20M-29M would have to be upped by $2M and a $30M-39M would have to be upped by $3M).

this would keep people from just bumping those big boys up at the last minute by $1M a time and make the bid a more serious one.

this is impossible to enforce, but i just wanted to throw the idea out there in case everyone thought it was a good one. let me know what you guys think.

If we are going to use penngray's website then count me in guys; that format and time restrictions I can deal with.

However, my 2 cents is that you disallow trading DURING the auction and only AFTER the autodraft. It only leads to problems....but either way just let me know on the drafting tool.

Sorry guys, this took the interest out for me. That's half the fun and for all the time and planning in this format involved it's just not worth it to let people off the hook.

I'll catch the next one under the standard format.

pacoboy and the rest of the participants --

these 2 ideas you have mentioned that turned you off are 2 enhancements i personally thought would improve the auction. if everyone is in agreement, we can strike either of them and add/change rules. i am pretty open to anything, i just want to do an auction!!!

seeing as there isnt that much interest yet in the auction, i want to retain anyone who has auction interest, so i am willing to adjust the rules if the rest of the league is in agreement.

any other thoughts guys?

I'll do it either way. I like the idea of all free agents but am not big on trading. I just want to do an auction.
