post a link to your team, for starters.

link will help tons.

Can tell you off the bat that in you're going with Kent and Young up the middle in that 05 set you're just asking for trouble...some ask for it and never get poo-nished...but defense up the middle would help your pitchers

I am sure you know the whole link stuff, but just in case:

Got to your league's stats page, right-click on your team ->copy shortcut.

Come over here and post the link, it should have an id# at the end 8)

Even without the link it's easy to see that this team has extremely poor defense. This isn't just poor defense, it's extremely poor and that will greatly inflate pitcher ERAs for the whole team.

Your park and your defense mostly are contributing.

Coors will do this to your pitching...not matter who it is you throw out there.

Porous defense can also work against you letting hits through that, in coors, could turn to two/three run jimmy-jacks...

let's see, the key defensive positions for me are second and shortstop. Then would be CF's arm and range then C arm and COF and finally CIF

I think you changed Young for clayton...that should help the defense a good deal.

There's a really good chunk focused on defense in the newbie advise thread over in the strategy forum, have you checked it out?

In a few words, my preferences:

2s or 1s up the middle 2B, SS, CF.
Good arms in CF (-1 or better) and C. (-1 or-2)
No 4s in the Corner outfields
Good arm in RF (-3), LF I can live with +1 or +2
I am [i:a5dc1b2d19]willing[/i:a5dc1b2d19] to have 4s in the CIFs

Problem I have with suggesting changes is that I am not [i:a5dc1b2d19]that[/i:a5dc1b2d19] familiar with playing Coors...I don't know if or whom I would replace Kent with, but 2B would be my next taget. The thing to remember is what I mentioned earlier...Coors will really do a number on your pitching stats...no matter who you throw out there, but having said that, I'd probably wouldn't play be playing a 4 in CF, RF, 2B and C at the same time, no matter what.

Hope this is of help.

Defense is very underrated by most new players. Depending on the type of pitchers you have (fly ball vs Ground ball ) is also a factor but it is almost certain death going with a 4 defense at SS 2nd and CF. You can get away with a 3 in CF if you have to but not at the other positions. I see Clayton has fewer atbats then Matsui so I assume you just got him but he is a better suited at SS.

Kent is just bad everywhere. In my 2006 league he plays 1st and has 5 errors after 21 games. DH only if you can.
