I have a question about the avoid lefty or avoid righty options. For instance a pitcher like Daniel Cabrera who is dominant against righthanded batters but gets rocked against lefty's, is it wise to use the avoid lefty option. Does the option mean he will pitch around lefty's or will he be removed sooner than if the option were not used. I have used this for relief pitchers but have been hesitant to use it for starters.

I've never done it, but it seems to me that if you use it on a starter, he would last about an inning give or take.

Hard righties or lefties like these are only carried for the purpose of facing an all ne sided team for the most part, in specialty situations.
