The problem with HAL

I don't have anything more than my own observations to back up this theory but:

It seems to me that SOM is built to reflect the actual season stats. If you use the computer game to play the season exactly like it was played for real, then you should come within 2% of the actual season stats. HAL should strive to make the choices that reflect the actual season stats.

Thus, if you have Ken Griffy (at 5.93M) and Juan Pierre (at .62M) on your roster, HAL is more likely to pick Pierre to start in CF since Pierre played in 162 games while Griffy only played in 128.
