Pitchers question?

Kerry Wood this year pitched only 61 innings....but he's cheap and has a good strato card. Is he going to be able to pitch a full 35 games this year in strato or will he get hurt? I don't see where or how pitchers get hurt and through 18 games in my league no pitcher has gotten hurt. But it seems that if he can only pitch 61 innings how is he going to be during a full strato season? Any feedback would be appreciated.

As long as he has a card a pitcher can start every 4th or 5th game depending on *, regardless of how many actual innings pitched.
I believe injuries to pitchers are based on a roll for the DH and can be injured but I don't think this has anything to do with innings pitched or injuries during the real season.
Wow...

That would be a bad rule.....I have J.D Drew and he played about 1/2 the games and he gets hurt every series......yet a starter who pitched 60 innings can go the whole season. I think strato should factor that in. Plus, our league has no DH so I guess none of the pitchers will get hurt then. I wish I knew that rule before the draft. Cause Wood at that cheap price is better than most 7 or 8 million dollar pitchers. In the FAQ section it says nothing about pitcher injuries. I hope they factor the pitchers like they do the batter injuries in the future.

Since you're a rookie, I'll risk underestimating you and point out that in SOM, ERA means nothing; strikeouts don't mean all that much; and WHIP, although it surely means a good amount, is not everything because it doesn't take into account homers. And Wood is homer-prone, with 14 HR allowed in 66 innings. Against righties, he's ok, although he does give up some doubles and homers. Lefty hitters are the real problem. They KILL him. Even in Petco, if a lefty rolls on his card, there's almost a 1 in 5 chance they'll hit a homer. And with 8 ballpark homers on top of that, if you are in any kind of HR park, fuhgeddaboutit; he's a disaster. So you either want to use him as a spot starter against righty-heavy teams, a righty-only bullpen specialist, or not at all.

Used Wood on my team. Here is his stat line:
7-7
151 IP
119 hits
72 walks
192 K's
34 Homeruns
4.35 ERA
1.27 WHIP
Was a full and spot starter in Bank One. Not bad for the price but those 34 Homers can be deadly.

I would like to point out that I agree with this basic principle, buuuut really bitching about it HERE does nothing. TSN just implements the cards and rules from SOM. SOM has done it this way for decades.
The only thing TSN could possibly do would be have an option for prvate leagues that would limit IP and Ab's to within 10% of what they did that year, as that is the rule many face to face leagues use.
