TOO MANY LEFTIES?

TOO MANY LEFTIES?

I can replace Griffey with Wells but may have to act quickly. In my division the 3 other ballparks balances are (SI 1-5, 1-8 / HR 1-6, 1-10)
- for the whole league (minus my park) it's (SI 1-5, 1-5 / HR 1-12, 1-8).
Do I have to many lefties in my starting lineup? - How's the pitching look?
Thanks!

What do you mean by the whole league? Did you average the numbers out or something?

I dont think you have too many lefties the problem that I see is in your righties. If you expect to see a lot of lefty pitching than you need righties who hit lefties well. your righties hit righties better.

I considered that somewhat but....

2 of the 3 other teams in my division have 1 lefty each on their pitching staffs. So I thought I'd take advantage of that in a major way. The other team plays in a 1-18 HR park (MinuteMaid) for righties has 2 lefty starters but neither is dominant against lefties (Pettitte. Sabathia), and I tried to pick lefty hitters that don't lose too much vs lefty pitchers.

Defense kinda stinks but the offence should be pretty good!

1. Abreu, B. (L) RF 3(-4)e4 .286 .405 .474 2R
2. Wright, D. (R) 3B 3e25 .306 .388 .523 2L

5. Kent, J. (R) 2B 3e19 .289 .377 .512 1R
6. Johnson, D. (L) 1B 3e10 .275 .355 .451 E
7. Guillen, J. (R) LF 3(-4)e8 .283 .338 .479 4R

I would get rid of Harang and pickup Robertson or Glavine and win a majority of your games at home. You have Escobar to spot start vs heavy righty teams and setup vs righties.

Your D is pretty bad. Only 1 2-rating in your starting lineup. Is Utley available to replace Kent? Utley does well in Safeco for the same defense as Kent. Also, there must be other RF options that you can platoon vs using Guillen. He is good for a Minute Maid park. Guiel, Piedra, McLouth, Dellucci to name a few vs righties. Tons of vs lefty platoons to fill it out.

Good luck!

some of those platoon lefties are available. I used Piedra on my last team and I never seem to have luck with this arrangement. One reason I've found which defeats the plattooning for me is the way 'HAL' sometimes refuses to pinch hit for a player like Piedra once a lefty reliever comes into the game. When a lefty relieves a righty early in a close game HAL may just leave the 'wrong' guy in anyway. Even when the lefty is replaced, if the team you're playing has a balanced bullpen, you may see (righty, lefty, righty, lefty) and your original guy is gone from the game already (and you may be down to your third string guy). This can be a critical factor for teams who play many 'low scoring' games where at bats late in the game may become extremely crucial. So maybe I've just had more than my share of bad luck with platooning, or I've just mistakenly perceived it that way. Does this make any sense?
