Relief pitching in playoffs

Do the same rules that govern appearances for relievers during the regular season apply in the playoffs? I ask because Jose Valverde pitched back-to-back 3 inning saves in Games #3 and #4 of a semi-final series and I want confirmation as to whether or not he would be available in the decisive game 5.
