[i:0368e038d5]05/22/2006 - 05/28/2006[/i:0368e038d5]

The title of the manager's submission was very fitting:

[b:0368e038d5]GotW #10: Gibbons Gone Wild - walkoff HRs in back-to-back extra-inning games[/b:0368e038d5]
First game, Second game

Talk about a flair for the dramatic. Teachable Moments rightfielder Jay Gibbons hits walkoff blasts in two consecutive extra inning games - the first a 2-out, 3-run job in the bottom of the 13th, and the second a 1-out, 2-run shot in the bottom of the 16th. The euphoria of Gibbons' heroism was tempered only by the awful headache he had for days after all the head-slapping he underwent as he was greeted by his overzealous teammates at home plate.

The scoring in this one was crazy. 22 runs and only 2 home runs!
Halladay gave up 10 runs in an 8 1/3 innings pitched AND still got the win!

How about the next night! The offense never fell asleep!

20 innings, five lead changes, two ties and a walk-off homer

Check this one out. It lasted 20 innings and featured five lead changes in the first eight innings, then 11 scoreless innings before a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 20th. Oliver Perez was forced into duty for the first time all season and pitched 6 scoreless innings before finally succumbing in the bottom of the 20th. The losing team had the go-ahead run on 3rd base with less than two outs 3 times in extra innings and couldn't score.

The Oldtyme Yanks went into the final series with a two game division lead needing just one win to take the division over the Texas Bugeaters. After being blasted in games one and two by the scores of 19-6 and 17-4 Aaron Small took the ball for game three and shut down the mighty Bugeaters taking a no hitter into the 8th and pitching his team to the pennant with a 5-1 3 hit beauty at Coors Field.

C.C. Sabathia Doubles in the top of the eleventh, before Jason Michaels triples to bring him home for the go ahead run and then Sabathia continues the good work he produced with the bat by converting the save in the bottom of the 11th.
