My team in a slump

My team in a slump

Postby Brut300 » Wed May 31, 2006 10:55 am

My team was by far one of the top two teams in the league through the first 2and a half weeks. I had won 8 or 9 series in a row at one point during that stretch. Now for the last week and a half my team has hit a major slump. I have only won 2 of my last 7 or 8 series including getting swept by the worst team in the league (i had yet to be swept prior to that). Is there anything special i have to do to re-energize my team? Am i supposed to be resting hitters? Any help would be appreciated. I am still in first place in my division but my lead has gone for 8 or 9 games to one game.

THanks

Brut

Your team can have it's hot AND cold streaks.

It's similar to MLB. Ride the waves on top for a while, then come back down to earth.

You have to live with both.

Post a link to your team and let's have a look.

When my team runs into a prolonged slump, I look at my R/L splits and then I'll make changes to my lineups. If I see a batter has had more success hitting vs. a lefty or righty, I might move him up in the order.

And visa-versa.

It does indeed work.

Is Clark your CF? Having a 4 in CF is a recipe for trouble...Especially in a pitchers park. He's giving up ALOT of hits.

You're wasting $ carrying the extra pitchers. You need 5 guys that can start and relieve.

Guerrier has got some innings pitched. The majority of your relief innings NEEDS to go to the expensive relievers. They need to earn their keep.

For a pitchers park team, this team is lacking in OB. You've got some good sluggers that I'd rather see in a hitters park. (Glaus, Vlad, Tejada, Konerko) There isn't enough OB for these guys to drive in...

What are your lineups?

i have clark on my team because he is a good lead off hitter and cheap. What extra pitchers are being wasted in my lineup?

I just switched my lineup

it currently is

Clark
Crawford
Glaus used to hit 5th
Guerrero used to hit 3rd
Konerko Used to hit 6th
Tejada used to hit 4th
Lopez
Kennedy
pitcher

I think Clark has a great value card...hitting that is.
He's strictly a DH this season.
Defensively, he's costing you runs in CF.

I'd hit Vlad 3rd. both ways. He's your best hitter.

You've got Bonderman, Schilling and Wilson, to go with 4 *SP's.

You need to have 10 pitchers. (5 SP's / 5 RP's)

I usually have a $.50 SP only guy that doesn't see the light of day and a better RP than Schilling/Wilson.

Vlad is in RF, Clark in CF and Crawford in LF. What role does Burnitz play?

Crawford needs a platoon IMHO. With the extra cash from a pitching transaction and dumping Burnitz, you "could" grab a platoon guy for Crawford vs. LH's. (ie. Kapler or Byrnes)

so you basically have a 4 man rotation? Should i dump bonderman and upgrade weaver? Weaver hasn't let up too many runs.

Should i just get a defensive minded CF (maybe shawn green) and bat him 8th?

Burnitz i have on my team incase of injury and for Pinch Hitting

I got schilling on my team incase of injury

Wilson is just on my team to fill a roster spot (i have him in mop up)

What is a platoon guy? for crawford? I'm just getting into baseball this year so i don't know a lot of strategy and lingo. Baseball is the 4th best sport (in terms of popularity) where i am originally from.

Thanks for your help
