Looking forward to an ATG III... but my one fear is that in ATG II, they got it right - a nice array of talent to choose from, a wider variety of players to choose from and a deeper pool of players than ATG I had. Endless possibilities for "types" of teams. It is great to know that a good draft gives you the upper hand in a league, but a poor one doesn't count you out. You can also adjust team philosophy on the fly. These are all qualities that help to make ATG II as popular as it has been IMO. There are specific players that people miss from ATG I, but when the switch was made I didn't hear too many folks complain about the new version at all. I just hope that trend continues if/when the new version is eventually released. Add/drop teams and players, but please don't mess with the overall mix and balance.

Now, about [b:ff3cd7adad]HAL[/b:ff3cd7adad]...

Whenever talk turns to a new ATG version we all dream of great seasons by great players. I tend to want the absolute best season possible by most of the stars. I am still wanting the 68 Gibson. :) You know, the extreme seasons.

But one thing that never seems to get mention but always matters a lot is the role players. You know the Oquendo types who play a lot of positions. Or the Oglivie, Knight, who makes for a nice portion of a platoon. I would hope that whenever ATG3 is offered up that we get some of these players who had an extreme season in an unusual way, killed one type of pitching, or incredible defense. Or maybe stole a ton of bases ala Omar Moreno.

And going along the theme of "normal" extreme seasons how about Brock in his 118 steal season or Ricky in his 130 steal season or Moreno in one of his 100+ SB seasons? You can guarantee that ATG3 like ATG1 and ATG2 will be filled with catchers with -3/-4 arms. I would like to get as many of the historical 100+ SB guys as possible to challenge those catchers.

I doubt we'll get a whiff of ATG III until 2006 comes out.

Still, I'm all for lobbying. I've been feeling pretty bored with ATG lately, and have rekindled interest in the 80s game.

I think we ought to bat about some theme ideas before they throw another "you choose between these two stellar years" gimick at us.

Give us as many more teams as possible then give us the ability to determine/customize what teams we can use in a given league. We could have decade leagues, era leagues, national leagues, american leagues, etc. and that would greatly extend the playability of the game.

I would like to see some new players, Lajoie, Sisler, Waner, Traynor, Bresnahan, Walsh, Cronin, Mize, Plank, Ed Roush, the 1922 NY Giants, Casey, 1967 Frank Robinson, and all the others.

How about the option to be able to create your own ballpark, so you can build a park around a team. Let us in on some of the other secrets, like doubles ratings, injury loops and mystery cards.
