ANOTHER ALL-TIME RECORD SMASHED

ANOTHER ALL-TIME RECORD SMASHED

Postby egvrich » Sat Jan 07, 2006 7:45 am

My team named "As Good As A Hit" finished up last night and broke the team Bases on Balls record by about 29. Finishing the year with 1321. They also took 2nd place all time in team On Base % with .413.

They also placed on a couple of individual records:

Jack Clark walks 191 times.

Kid Speer throws 26 wild pitches.

Here's the team:

Checkout the season "Teddy Ballgame" put up. How do you finish 5th in the MVP voting with that kind of season???

Also, got some pretty decent years outta some not so frequently used guys.

Great question, so I decided to check. Here are the #1 - #5 finishers in order:

#1 - Simmons, A. 732 159 56 60 163 30 1 8 .393 .743 .420
#2 - Mays, W. 685 160 32 69 164 62 9 5 .324 .691 .379
#3 - Ruth, B. 614 173 23 80 201 115 1 19 .347 .792 .446
#4 - Gehrig, L. 666 161 57 56 205 100 1 10 .363 .758 .447
#5 - Williams, T. 606 171 32 60 186 146 0 6 .381 .764 .501

How did Williams finish 5th?

He had the 2nd most runs, 3rd most RBI's, most BB's, 2nd highest BA, 2nd highest SLG, and highest OBP.

You had the best season I have ever seen from P. Collins as well, and a pretty poor season from R. Works.

For all the Bishop hate out there, he put together a pretty solid season I would have to say.

This team really got "hurt" in 2 different areas: Errors and injuries.

When I built this team, I believe I got the max walk possibilities at every position, but that meant taking guys who are bad on defense which led to all the errors which killed my pitching.

Second was the injuries, this team rountinely had 2-4 players out with injuries, even though I had a ton of 15 game injury risks, it was the sheer quantity of injuries that baffled me. I they had stayed relatively healthy, they might have put up another 50 walks .........

I'm tempted to do it again, but this time pay some attention to injuries and defense.
