2 strange and unusual things

2 strange and unusual things

Postby Free Radicals » Thu Sep 08, 2005 2:24 am

1st ) During a game , Duke Snider is taken out in the 6th and replaced with Kiddo Davis . Now Duke wasn't hurt . Why in the hell would Hal take Duke out of a game if he isn't hurt ?

2nd ) I platoon Whitaker/ White . White is down for 5 games . Whitaker gets hurt for 1 game . Who does Hal bring in to play 2nd to finish the game and the next game ? Tony Armas ? That's right Tony Armas .

I found these 2 things very unusual and thought I'd share .

p.s. Armas didn't make an error and Kiddo got hurt for 5 games in his 1st AB .

I can think of 3 things:

1) Maybe he pulled a Bonds - with all that walking to 1st base and running on foul balls, etc - he simply got tired.
2) He had a hot date and needed to split.
3) He was drunk and had enough or was going to leave so he could start drinking.

Other than that, beats me.

Even if Hal was going to sub for anyone defensively , why in the 6th ? Most defensive subsitutions are 9th inning type moves IMO . Duke misses out on at least 2 AB's in the deal . Lost by one in the 9th too . So I feel that Hal's braincramp may have cost me here .

It seems to me that HAL picks replacements alphabetically sometimes, Armas was the first in line..... makes no sense otherwise.

I have seen HAL pinch run for Hornsby, not sure why, it has happened several times.

I suggest there be a check box on a player "HAL never removes" for ANY reason. Injury would be the only way they come out of the game.

Kiddo won't be in CF on my team ever again . I was carrying 15 and only had Kiddo if Duke got hurt . I didn't want Summa in CF , which is what I ended up with anyways . Bye bye Kiddo ! :)
