I wonder if modified fast pitch is anything like geezer baseball. I have been throwing off the mound this winter for the first time in years, having completed my second major orthopedic surgery in three years, and I cut loose with my cut fastball, my out pitch when I was in high school. I swear to God, the guy catching me said.."Hey! That's a pretty good off speed curve!" My patients can be discouraged when I tell them they have a condition which will require maintenance treatment for the rest of their life. To cheer them up I remind them "From the moment we are born, we are all terminally ill. Life is a process of inevitable disease, decay, and ultimately, death. Have a nice day!"

Modified Fast Pitch is fast pitch without the windmill delivery. In our league, you can wrist snap, sling, clip off of the leg, pretty much whatever you want, as long as you don't windmill. I pretty much pitch straight "bowler" style, without any wrist snap, sling, etc. Mostly use knuckles, with an occasional drop, or sharp hard backspin. When batters look for my knuckler (which I throw at different speeds), I can sneak a straight "fastball" by a guy. My velocity for the level I play at is average. There are guys in my league who sling that can put it by you in a blink. :)

In 1986 I had a very bad windsurfing accident in high winds, ruptured two discs in my lower back, the extruded material was right on the nerves. My bone doc told me I needed to have surgery immediately, and that I would never play sports again that involved back rotation. So I went looking for another doctor....
Needless to say, I never had the surgery, and still at good old 55 am skiing, playing baseball, and yes, even windsurfing.....and I sent a videotape to that doctor five years after the accident showing me playing hockey, football etc.
All I know is this: finding the right doctor is the key to everything.

Hang in there, my man. Remember, there are worse things in life. Just look at whatever moves HAL made for your teams last night as proof. :)
