Swap Mantle for Simmons and drop from Giusti to a cheapy rp and upgrade your starting pitching.

If you love Mick, then swap Yaz or Reggie for Simmons.

Disagree with the last two posts. Yaz and Jackson are worth more than Simmons in Yankee 56 IMHO.

Actually you've done a superb job with the offense. I wouldn't use Cuellar there though. With a little tinkering on the pitching you should win 90 easily.

Positively a fantastic hitting trio of OFers for your park -- I would keep them all for sure. Mantle will earn every nickel of that big salary. I had him there recently -- he was the runaway MVP, hit almost .400, HR champ, RBI champ, and barely missed the triple crown.

Great bullpen IMO.

Starters: Ok I guess, but I've never had any luck with Blue or Cuellar.

I think you've got a good team -- [i:bcdd07da9d]leave that OF alone. [/i:bcdd07da9d]

Not to hijack the thread but I'd be grateful for a little Y56 advice on this team as I've never played here before either.

I've put in a bid for Holtzman, and Pesky

OK Dan. I am not a big time vet, but I have 6 teams going in Y56 right now and I am a combined 30-40 games over 500. Some thoughts:

- you need lefties in your bullpen. PRichert, TMartines, RPerranowski, WFryman to name a few.
- you should go with for lefty* starters. Swap out Carleton for SFernandez, O'Dell, Lolich, Osteen, Spahn to name a few
- can you grab LH power at first base instead of Hodges? I love Boog Powell (better than Cooper too IMO). Keith Hernandez is solid. Switch hitting Murray and Ripper Collins could also work.
- Try to get good fielding high OB for 2b and ss. Not sure what options are availble to you but take a look. And, good fielding is more important than high OB if you have to choose.

My two cents.....

Allow me to hijack a previously hijacked thread...

I missed out on Yaz and Reggie in the draft, but was able to grab Selkirk, Cleon, and Shoeless in waivers...now I can't decide which two to keep!

It's worth mentioning that my division is made up of 2 Forbes and 1 Polo. Pitchers in my division include Alexander, Brown, Pfeister, McLain, Clemens, Cicotte, and Lemon! The good news is that out of a possible 13 SPs that I'm likely to face in my division, Pfeister is the [u:872d84b446]only[/u:872d84b446] lefty!

Having said all that, I realize I need at least one more SP (a righty), but does it also make sense to also target hitters (like Reggie Smith or Stargell) who feast on right-handed pitching?

So who to keep out of Cleon, Selkirk, and Jackson; who to add to the pitching staff; and should I sell out against righties?

IMO, Shoeless has to stay. If Cleon played RF, I'd keep him also, but since he doesn't, I'd use him, Selkirk and Weaver as trade bait to try and get a power hitting (RH) Rf & 3B &/or a nice SP.

Splittorf must go.
