Sam Rice: what about him?

Sam Rice: what about him?

Postby nels52 » Tue Mar 21, 2006 1:06 pm

I'm building yet another Dunn team. Maybe I'll get it right there eventually. Anyway, Sam Rice seems like a he'd be a pretty good and fairly cheap RFer for that park. Please share your opinions etc. about this guy. Thanks.

Sam has alot of possitives . No injury , some speed , a leadoff man possibly , good average , decent D but not great , bunting , h&r skills , and hits both sides fairly well . If you need power he's not your man .

Had Sam on my first ring team at Dunn.

He is a good Dunn player, but there are some options in RF at Dunn that are preferable IMHO, Reggie Jackson, Valentine, Furillo, Cobb or even Rettenmund are thoughts.

For LH OBP/hitters Pesky, Joe Jackson, Rolfe, Keller and Ludes are good choices.

Sam Rice is good for Dunn as he hits lefties like Ty Cobb and Mickey Cochrane slightly better than righties anyway.

Sam Rice 2 seasons in Dunn......

If I could get the 121 runs scored the same season I get the 108 rbi I'd be sittin pretty....all-n-all not bad for the $$$$ :D

Every 5th season or so, his OBP is a lil too low for my liking (.325), but usually solid and one of my favorites.

I have had some luck with him. I haven't used him at Dunn, but he has hit and fielded well. Used him for leadoff usually
