Schmidt or Dick Allen?

Franchise League, I have this set of players in Griffith24.
C-MAuer
1b-Carew
2b-Utley (I know)
ss-Bowa
3b-Schmidt/Travis
Lf-Al Simmons
Cf-Puckett
RF-Delahanty
DH-Travis/Dick Allen

Comes down to, offensively, who would you rather have in Griffith24---Schmidt or Allen(7.95m, 1L)? (I will use Travis at 3b if I use Allen at DH)

In a neutral or hitters park I would prefer Allen. But Griffith is going to kill them both. Since I would expect neither to produce acceptable offensive output I would go with the better defense Schmidt offers. Take the Ozzie Smith approach, "if I ain't hitting nobody else is either".

But then Allen does have a balanced card that would reduce temptation to platoon at third. If I went that route and moved Travis to SS Bowa becomes expensive defensive backup.

If you are platooning Schmidt/Travis then might consider playing Travis at SS against lefties. That would make Bowa your primary SS against lefties and defensive replacement against lefties. That better justifies his salary on the team. But the cap is a factor. If 200 mil probably can afford to platoon Schmidt. But if a lower cap Schmidt's salary is too high to be just a platoon player against lefties. For me it then becomes a no-brainer to go with the balanced Allen every day at third. Schmidt goes to AAA.

Maybe use Goslin, Delahanty and Simmons in the outfield, Travis at 3b and Foxx for the dh -- or move Utley to dh and play Eddie Collins at 2b if you get his card instead of the White Sox.
